FOR BUSINESSES: How to Take Advantage of BIA Summer Events

BIA Festivals: A Guide for Businesses to Succeed

To support local businesses in the Uptown and Five Corners neighbourhoods the White Rock BIA have planned two festivals for late spring with four outdoor stages hosting FREE performances. We are anticipating approximately 3500+ visitors for each event!

–                May 25th 11 am – 3 pm: Jazz & Blues Festival

–                June 15th 11 am – 3 pm: Buskers & Comedy outdoor shows: June 15th

The objective of these events, as with all of our events, is to bring more foot traffic to local businesses and to increase the visibility of our community to locals and tourists alike.

To help you maximize the events taking place near your business we have put together a list of ideas you can use to take advantage of these events.

1.             MARKETING:

Leading up to the event we suggest sharing the event details through your marketing channels including your website, social media channels and emails. Invite your audience / customers to come down and visit your business while also enjoying the free outdoor performances.

We have gathered photos and the event poster here for you to utilize in your marketing channels. You can access these here:

Jazz & Blues Folder

Buskers & Comedy Folder

We also have printed posters available that we are happy to deliver to your business to display prior to the events.

2.             PROMOTIONS:

If you are able to, we suggest running a special or promotion during the events.

If you do setup a promotion please let us know and we would be more than happy to share the information on our social media channels (currently at 19,000+ followers). As well we would add the information to our essential festival guides where we highlight local businesses.

3.             DAY OF EVENTS

A reminder to put out any sidewalk signage you have to encourage people to visit your business. With increased foot traffic throughout the neighbourhood it’s a great chance to present your business to potential new customers.

In addition to putting on these festivals we also have a comprehensive marketing plan in place to increase attendees and promote our local businesses.

We have put together essential guides for each of the festivals which highlight select businesses to visit. As mentioned above if you have a special or promotion yu would like us to share please let us know and we can add this to our guides.

Leading up to the events we are running social media ads which highlight the events as well as specific businesses in each area around the stages. We are also driving traffic to our essential guides and the event pages.

Radio ads are running on Wave FM as well we have booked print ads in the Peace Arch News for May 16th & 23rd.

If you have any questions or additional suggestions, we are always happy to hear from you at

We have events planned throughout the year, so please keep an eye out for the following events you can also  take advantage of.
